WAVES Works & Virgil the Video DJ's Pilot Episode or Music Video Megamix (feat. Pseudo Echo)

This is the VCRS’s maiden or pilot “Video DJ” mashup proudly brought to you by the very subdued but groovy “Virgil the Video DJ” in partnership with WAVES Works entertainment subsidiary. Although not commercially available and primarily intended as promotional for the artist featured this material has been rejected by multiple video hosting websites. All the while they allow similar “full length” material from the same artist to be published by random account holders who clearly have no copyright permission either.

Anyway without going on about inconsistencies we’d like to introduce you to Virgil and his vast music knowledge Virgil before it goes to waste. Virgil has chosen to focus on a personal favourite Australian band known as Pseudo Echo. Featuring snippets of most of their hits in some rare performance videos televised on popular Australian TV shows back in the mid to late 1980’s. This band can be considered very underrated and their success ended prematurely arguably by their taking a risk on a slight (electric guitar driven) genre change by the release of their 3rd studio album (Race). This may have been done as an attempt to lose the “bubblegum” tag or attract a newer legion of fans with a style of music that was gathering momentum, that being 90’s grunge. Sadly it backfired, big time, probably due to the loss of their devoted electronic synthesiser loving fans” and the keeping of the 80’s synominous “Keytar” in their bands repertoire. That aside the band, or parts thereof, continue to tour the Australian Countryside riding the wave of the very 80’s style influence\d music that they were renowned for. So without further delay here we go...

Steve Winwood - While You See a Chance (Single Version)

Recently rejected by both Youtube and Dailymotion here is the rare "single version" of one of my all time favourite and under rated tracks... "While You See a Chance"!

*note - please excuse the picture quality but Blogsite compression standards are much lower than the aforementioned regular "video specific" sites. :-)

"While You See a Chance" is a song performed by Steve Winwood in 1980, who also wrote it alongside Will Jennings. It was released on his album Arc of a Diver and peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1981, and also reached #68 on the Billboard Top 100 for the year 1981; however, it only reached #45 in the UK.

The song's keyboard introduction was not originally intended to be part of the song. The track was thrown together fairly quickly after Winwood discovered that he had accidentally deleted his intended drum track introduction while preparing for vocals. He wrote a new introduction on the spot as a replacement.

Many radio stations, when the song was released, played the version of the single used in the video, which cut the song's length from 5:15 to 3:55. The edit occurs in the middle of the song, immediately following the lyric "Don't you wonder how you keep on moving? One more day, your way." In the full version, Winwood follows this line by repeating the words "Oh, your way," while in the short version, an instrumental passage follows immediately.

In D-TV, the song was set to the Disney classic The Sword in the Stone.

FYI the original, shorter and "poor sounding" version is available here:
